The roommate wanted to know how the blind date had gone. "Terrible!" was the answer. "He showed up in his 1932 Rolls Royce!"

"Wow! That is a very expensive car. What is so bad about that?"

"He was the original owner!"

During a formal visit to a psychiatric hospital, the administrator asked his psychiatrist guide what criteria defined whether or not a patient should be institutionalised. "Well," said the psychiatrist, "we fill up a bathtub; then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup, a sieve, and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub."

"Oh, I understand," said the administrator. "A normal person would use the bucket because using the sieve would be pointless, and the bucket is bigger than the spoon or the teacup."

"No," said the psychiatrist. "A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a bed near the window?"
